The trio HeretiqueHÉRÉTIQUE make a sound that has variously been described as:

“Vibrant experimental music from the golden age of steam.”

“An ominous mixture of opulence and decadence.”

“A surrealist soiree in a 'fin de siècle' Parisian Bordello.”

Combining three desperately unfashionable instruments (Accordion, Bagpipes and Hurdy Gurdy) Hérétique create music that is deeply rooted in European folk dance traditions and simultaneously pushes the boundaries of contemporary composition. Above all, their infectious energy and rhythmic drive is guaranteed to get you on your feet.

'I think the music is gorgeous...'

Genevieve Tudor BBC Radio

Roman Zhbanov graduated from The Conservatory of Novosibirsk. When he was fourteen, he won the regional contest of young bayanists.  At eighteen he won the International contest in Kligental (Germany).  At nineteen he won the forty-seventh International Trophee Mondiale, in Italy.  Later, he became a laureate of international contests in Andorra, Spain, Russia and France.  He has performed in Poland, Yugoslavia, Lithuania, Denmark, on Crete, in Germany, Italy, Portugal, and France.

We gave a CD of his (pictured at right) away in our Novenber 2006 contest. If you weren't the lucky winner, you can still get this great music by ordering the CD from Roman, at roman.jbanov@libertysurf.fr (Hint: If you don't speak French, use the free BabelFish at AltaVista.com to translate your communications to Roman.

Between 1983 and 1989, Domi Emorine won twenty-four prizes as a child prodigy.   In 1990, not yet fifteen years old, she won the World Accordion Championship and the UNAF prize.   In 1991, she won the Silver Medal; and in 1993 the SACEM medal in the "Voice and Wind" category.   Five years later, Domi won the World Championship again.   She also did something unique in the annals of accordion playing: she won the "Grand Concours International en Divertissements et Variétés" (International Entertainment and Variety Show Contest) for the third time.   Domi also won First Prize at the International Contest in Klingenthal, thus becoming the only female accordionist to have won the three most prestigious international contests.

This audiofile is a sample from her album, "Viste".

If you weren't the lucky winner when we gave this CD away in October 2006, you can still get this great music by ordering the CD from Domi, at domi.emorine@libertysurf.fr (Hint: If you don't speak French, use the free BabelFish at AltaVista.com to translate your communications to Domi.)

Bayanist Roman Zhbanov is known to music lovers of Novosibirsk from their childhood.  He performed as a soloist with The Russian Folk Instruments Orchestra of the TV and radio company "Novosibirsk".  Recordings of his performances on radio and TV programs were made time and again. Since 1996, five CDs have been issued, and two films made. This is a far from complete list of achievements of this talented musician.

For more information on these amazing performers, see their separate biographies attached to other music downloads.  Domi was introduced in our October 2006 contest and Roman in our November 2006 contest.
